This month I turned 51. Honestly, I never thought being in my 50's would come so quickly. It always seemed like a reality that was so far away and so far out of reach; it was a thought I didn't have to dwell upon. Like most young folk, I too took life and health for granted. I regret having known what to do to ensure my health after 50 and not actually taking those steps. I have been as large as a size 26 in my adult life. Of course I wasn't satisfied with myself during those days, what woman is?
Fortunately, I was able to lose much of that weight, and it is a good think too. I have health issues that could have been avoided, maybe. I am a size 16 after having gotten down even more. On my 50th birthday, I could happily squeeze into a size 12. It was exciting, it felt good, I was proud, and I bound to get myself set in 12 without having to feel 'sqeezed in'. I was ready to tell everybody how to do it.
Unfortunately, I got too comfortable and too relaxed. After having everything necessary to get it right, on my 51st birthday I am regretfully on the road back up. The good thing is that upon deciding to write this 'confession of a 51 year old brawny woman' I have made up my mind again, to get back on track.
I don't like feeling out of breath when I walk up the stairs to my bedroom. I don't like feeling heavy as I lift myself out of bed in the morning. I don't like feeling stiff in the night, having to stretch my arms and legs because my elbow and knee joints are aching. I don't like going to purchase a new outfit and having to go to the size 16-18 section again. I don't like not being able to fit into a few favorite dresses now moved to the back of my closet. I do't like my shoes being tight and my stocking rubbing so much at the thighs.
After having made this promise to myself many times, I am not making it again. My hope is that this is the last time! I want to be size 12! I want to be a comfortable 12, not a tight one. I want to be able to move swiftly up the steps leading to my bedroom, the comfortable suit I have made for myself in my home. I want to be able to ride a bike again, to skate again, to dance through 3 songs again. The information I blogged on this site helped me to get where I wanted to be before. Tonight, July 4, 1009, I am making what I hope to be the last promise to myself to be healthy wise for my own sake. I am making myself what I hope to be the last promise I make to myself to get to that 'comfortable and loose fitting size 12 once and for all, one step at a time, AGAIN. Pray for me as I re-embark on my journey.

3. redistributes unwanted fat and improves blood circulation when working out.
4. actually reduced my dress size instantly.
5. controls my posture and protects my spinal column.
6. eliminated my back pain.
7. lifts my buttocks and prevents it from sagging.
8. Pushes up my breast also preventing the unsightly sag that comes with age.
9. Reduces the love handles that I hate.
10. Is very comfortable and helps to improve my body image.
I wear it even when I am walking, dancing, or working out. I find it to be more than a reducing garment it really enhances my physical activity. I find it helpful in firming up all the excess tissue I carry in my back, stomach, buttock, and thighs. The Will to Lose
This blog is an extension of my previous confession. I have been so busy that I slipped back into old habits.
1. Too busy and forget to eat.
2. No time for breakfast and fast food for lunch.
3. Not enough water.
4. Eating out as oppossed to cooking in.
5. Not taking the time to exercise.
6. Not purchasing my Nature Sunshine supplements....AND TAKING THEM.
7. Associating with people who are not health conscious...They order donuts for
breakfast and pizza for lunch.
...And as a result...you can imagine what is happening! The good thing is that I am catching the problem on time. One thing I did notice is, when I follow the sensible weight loss tips I have written about in this blog over the past couple of years, I don't have to worry about WILLPOWER!
Willpower comes into play when I don't follow the program. Willpower becomes an enemy to my healthy temple when I don't follow the program. In this case, I have to fight with my taste buds. I have more hunger pangs. I want to eat junk and sweets and more junk.
The moral of this story is that I have to follow the program I know works...the things I have written about in this blog. This weekend, I am going to spend time reading my own story. They worked for me before and they will work for me again.

Thai Go
"For over 35 years, people across the country and around the world have trusted Nature's Sunshine for their herbal products. As a result, Nature's Sunshine Products is the largest encapsulator of herbs in the world. Five years ago, Nature's Sunshine staff research scientists and pharmacists applied their years of experience in herbal knowledge to research, develop, and manufacture one of the most powerful antioxidant supplements available--Thai-Go™ mangosteen juice. The results speak for themselves. Independent testing proves the superiority of Thai-Go™ over other leading brands! If you want the best mangosteen juice for your family."
I have a personal testimony. For the past 3 months my back has been in such pain that I it brought tears to my eyes to walk, sit, or stand. I never understood why people in their winter years would just opt to sit. I was so tempted to sit or lie down and give in to the back pain. However, with prayer the Lord gave me the mind to keep it moving.
I recently began drinking Thai Go juice two or three time each day. After only one week of Thai go my back pain has subsided greatly. I am not 100% yet, but I am can see myself getting there. I don't feel bloated and tight anymore. I feel like the air has been let out and I can finish my weight loss efforts.

Focus on Fresh Foods
I have a confession.
I have be off the wagon for more than six months and my body feels awful. Eating the way I know is right and healthy has been a serious problem. There are nothing but fast food restaurants near my job and enroute to the other campuses I visit. The few sit down restaurants I pass are expensive and my taste buds tell me the food is not fresh. I no longer have easy access to the right foods during the day. Eat as much fresh food as possible. I am paying for it with weight gain, exhaustion, stiffness, and various pains throughout my body.
It was so bad during winter break that I could hardly move and was breathing harder than usual. So I spend the last week of winter break detoxing. I have gotten back on the wagon. This time I have shifted my focus to fresh foods.
I know its going to be tough sometimes, but be sure I am not always eating packaged or fast food, I am going to focus on fresh foods. Not only does packaged food lose most of its nutrients buy they also lose flavor. Packaged food tend to have much higher amounts of sodium and other bad things for our bodies.
It came to a personal choice and it is important that I focus on my possibilities and choose the best type of foods for my convenience and busy lifestyle. I am now focused again on fresh foods.

T’aint Nothing Like a Bowl of Soup in the Winter
Soup is a food that is made by combining ingredients such as meat and vegetables in stock or hot/boiling water, until the flavor is extracted, forming a broth. Traditionally, soups are classified into two broad groups: clear soups and thick soups.
Slow cooking is a great option for cooking soups. Because slow cookers work at low temperatures with lids on, there is hardly any liquid lost during cooking. With most cooking methods, the water in meats and vegetables turns to steam and evaporates. With a slow cooker, there's nowhere for the steam to go. It just collects on the lid and bastes the food.
When I eat a good vegetable soup before a meal I am likely to eat far less of the meat and potatoes. The soup helps to curb your appetite and also forces one to eat slowly. The best part is that many soups are low in fat and calories so if you are famished, you can eat a hearty helping without fear of weight gain. Just be careful which soups you choose. Go for soups that are broth based and is loaded with vegetables for added nutrients. Avoid creamy soups like clam chowder or cheese and bacon.
